Conversations on Teacher Education: Global Perspectives
April 7-12, 2008

Topic description: In April/May 2008 a Working Forum for Teacher Educators will be hosted by New Zealand Tertiary College in Auckland, New Zealand, in partnership with the World Forum Foundation. The Working Forum will facilitate the sharing of techniques, objectives, philosophies and perspectives among teacher educators from around the world to enable them to improve their effectiveness in working with early childhood teachers as they educate, guide and support them in working with families and young children. Working Forum sessions for teacher educators will focus on: bicultural and multicultural contexts; human development; inclusion; relationships; the role of technology in program delivery; curriculum; adult education; and policy. Join us for these online conversations and share your perspective on issues, trends and effective practices in teacher education.

Chip DonohueAbout the moderator: Chip Donohue, Ph.D., is the Director of the Center for Early Childhood Professional Development & Leadership in the School of Continuing Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he teaches face-to-face and online courses leading to a Certificate in Child Care Administration. He is currently developing an online early childhood bachelor’s degree completion program at UWM, an online director credential with the McCormick Tribune Center for Early Childhood Leadership, and is consulting with Erikson Institute. With Selena Fox of New Zealand Tertiary College, he is co-hosting the Working Forum for Teacher Educators and developing ecelearn, an innovative online approach for early childhood teacher education.

Recognized as an international leader in teaching and learning online, Chip has published numerous articles and given keynote addresses and presentations worldwide, and has led eTeaching Institutes for international early childhood faculty and trainers in New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom and across the US in New York, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kansas, New Mexico and North Carolina. He serves on the Head Start Professional Education Network, and is a member of the national advisory boards for Bright Horizons Family Solutions and for the McCormick Tribune Center for Early Childhood Leadership.
