Supporting Directors as the Gatekeepers to Quality

training participantsIf you are a seasoned early childhood professional interested in improving the leadership and management practices of center-based programs, don't miss out on this exciting new professional development opportunity. Designed for college instructors, directors of multi-site programs, education coordinators, independent consultants, and resource and referral specialists, "Supporting Directors as the Gatekeepers to Quality" will provide in-depth training on how to use the Program Administration Scale (PAS) to help directors of center-based programs prepare for Quality Counts, the Illinois Quality Rating System.

Funded by the Grand Victoria Foundation, this training opportunity is designed to create a cadre of experienced program consultants who can provide technical assistance to center directors interested in applying for star levels three and four in the Quality Rating System and implementing suggested program improvements resulting from their PAS assessment. Participant portion of the training cost is only $150.

Learn the potential of Microsoft® PowerPoint® for creating winning presentations and how to select a multimedia projector for your center. Become familiar with best practices for integrating technology into presentations. This full-day, interactive workshop will be held at National-Louis University's Lisle Campus in Room 850-317 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (A lunch break will be provided.) Participants will have access to follow-up technical assistance online. Funding is provided by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). Participant portion of the training cost is only $45. Enrollment is limited and priority will be given to administrators whose programs serve IDHS-funded children. What's New in Director Credentialing and Leadership Training?

Chicago SkylineThe Center will be hosting a preconference session on Wednesday, November 7 from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. in Room S406B McCormick Place South. This session will provide an update on director credentialing efforts around the country and how director credentials and leadership training initiatives are being incorporated into quality rating systems in some states. Also included will be a poster showcase display of different director credential and leadership training initiatives. The session includes an opportunity for participants to network with the representatives of different director credential and leadership training projects.

PAS Assessor Reliability Training

training participantsThe Center will be conducting training for individuals interested in becoming reliable assessors for the Program Administration Scale (PAS). This four-day training is designed for technical assistance specialists, quality monitors, management consultants, researchers, and other professionals interested in using the PAS to reliably assess early childhood leadership and management practices and help center directors improve the quality of their programs. Assessor training will include an overview of the reliability and validity of the instrument, interview protocol for collecting data, and how to score indicators and items. Participants of this training are eligible to become Certified PAS Assessors. The training fee is $850.
