June 1, 8, 15, 22 and Online
Administering an effective and efficient early childhood program in today's
world requires expertise in computer technology. Let us help you improve your
computer skills and integrate technology into the management of your child care
program. This June the McCormick Tribune Center for Early Childhood Leadership
will be offering a computer technology course in which the content and
activities have been specifically designed for early childhood administrators.
Topics include:
- Maximizing the potential of the Internet as a tool for research on online
communication
- Creating memos, flyers, newsletters, and forms with Microsoft® Word
- Developing slide show presentations with Microsoft® PowerPoint®
- Constructing spreadsheets with Microsoft® Excel
The course consists of four class sessions for a total of 16 hours of hands-on
instruction. Classes will meet on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at
National-Louis University's Lisle Campus (850 Warrenville Road). The dates are
June 1, 8, 15, 22, 2007. There is also an online component that provides
additional content and the opportunity to communicate with the instructor and
other participants outside the traditional classroom. Those successfully finishing the
course will receive a Certificate of Completion. For Illinois Director
Credential (IDC) purposes, this training equals 28 contact hours or two IDC
management competency points.
Funding for this training is provided by the Illinois Department of Human
Services (IDHS). Participants' portion is only $50. This includes instruction, a copy of Microsoft® Office XP: A
Training Manual for Early Childhood Administrators, a flash drive, and all
other training materials. Enrollment is limited to 12 participants and priority
will be given to early childhood administrators whose programs serve IDHS-funded
children. Participants may also earn two semester hours of graduate credit
(ECE534, Technology in Child Care Administration I) by paying an additional fee.
The course is applicable to the core requirements for National-Louis
University's graduate degree program in Early Childhood Administration.
