Two points: (1) Individuals who work full-time but make less than $23,660 are automatically entitled to overtime; other than this minimum, the test for exempt/non-exempt, depends not on salary but on JOB DUTIES. (2) I am unaware of any law that exempts non-profits from the obligation to pay overtime to non-exempt employees. In the public sector (that is, government employment), employees may take what is known as "compensatory time off." However, that is NOT, I repeat NOT, an option in private sector employment.
