The Leadership Connection Conference
This was the first time that I have attended the conference. I did not know what to expect, but I knew it was going to be a great experience. I found that every detail was to be treasured. I was intrigued by the public policy forum. Because I am relatively new to the field, it seemed like more of a family meeting airing dirty laundry. However, it was still refreshing to see the diplomacy and the explanations of those who were new to the field and those who were veterans.
The reality that the field is in transition, was tangible to me. I felt very much like the country girl in the big city while everything was happening all at once. I tried to take it all in, so that I would not lose the excitement of being in the right place at the right time. I feel that I have information hot off the press. I enjoyed being inspired by Greg Mortenson to live beyond myself and how a little can make a big change. The sessions that I attended Nurturing Authenic Relationships with Families, Leadership Skills for Directors of Infant and Toddler Programs, and Engaging Local Business Leaders in Child Care were all sessions that are directly related to the mission that I am currently focusing on. I feel that all the sessions have empowered me to launch my projects with confidence.
I met many from different states and different roles in early childhood. It was very interesting for me to connect the dots to many agencies and how they influence or affect early childhood. I had a great time and I am looking forward to next year!
