I agree with you. The public policy forum was eye opening for me as well. I had no idea there was so much controversy in this "field." I was a jr. high teacher and then became a preschool teacher, so I always thought of myself as a professional educator in the field of education. I was a little uncomfortable as a newcomer to the conference in this session because it did seem like there was some"history" going on here. But I did love how our table shared their views and eventually came to some conclusions. It is good to know all of the difficulties that so many face, so we can be proactive when public policies are being considered by our law makers. I am much more likely to want to get involved in the process, even if it does not affect me directly, because I met such great people at this conference that it does affect...and perhaps things affect me more than I previously knew.
