I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to this onlikne discussion regarding mindfulness, the brain, and the various connections that are impacted by and impact our physical nature. As the host for this discussion, I encourage your interaction, thoughts, stories, and maybe most importantly your questions.

So much has been learned in the last few years about the brain and body and how they interact. The information can be overwhelming and yet reassuring as the brain research "catches up to" what we in education (especially early childhood education) have either known intuitively or through our own observations and practice. It's great to have the "science" behind us now as we move forward.

I look forward to sharing with each of you and maintaining a lively and provocative time of interacting.

As Vygotsky said, "All higher mental functions are internalized social interactions." And, Michael Halliday stated, "Language is the essential condition of knowing, the process by which experience becomes knowledge." Let's use this forum for our social interaction and language (communication) and take advantage of this opportunity to learn, reflect, and lay a foundation for positive education change.

Best to all of you,

Keith
