The philosophy of our Early Learning Center is that children learn through their play. If we are not give time to explore, make mistakes, learn and then try again there would be no process. I truly believe that this "process" is too often lost. I asked my sister what she had learned in school one day. Her response was "I don't know we took tests all day." So I asked again "What information was the test on?" She answered "I don't know I just remember it (the information) and take the test". I was so frustrated by this answer that I said to my husband "She's not going to maintain something that isn't meaningful to her." Her response to that was "Yeah like Ms. ?... she used to have us sit in groups and work on projects. I remember all of that!" This teacher lectures to us and we take notes." She's in 5th grade. Why can't everyone realize what us Early Childhood Folks already know... It's about the process.
