I feel teachers can offer the children choices by: Finding out what the interests of the children are, and give the children many opportunities to work with concrete objects and to discover the logic of how these objects work. Children's interests are a built-in motivator for learning.
The environment is another way of offering children choice. Teachers should take time each day to assess how well the physical setting is working for the children and for themselves. Their observations will tell them what materials children typically select, how they use these materials, what they are learning, and how they relate to their peers while working. With this information, they can make appropriate changes to the physical environment if needed .
