Holly, I enjoyed your session at Leadership Connections. My situation is a bit unique as I sponsor my teachers for visas from France so they can teach at my school for a year. It is possible that someday these teachers may want to return to the US and teach in a different area in which case, their future American employer would call me. As it is very costly to recruit foreign staff, US references can weigh heavily in employment decisions. Are you aware if the law would be any different in my case dealing with foreign aliens? Now that the end of the school year is approaching and my teachers will soon return to France, I will create a release of information document to be signed by my teachers.

Could you also enlighten me on the law regarding an employee’s right to see their personnel file and photocopy the contents?
