QUESTION #5

I hope there was a question #4 in there somewhere. I can be such a space shot!

How many of you have a written policy that forbids teachers from babysitting for families in the program?

The danger, if you don't have such a policy, is that the program could be sued. Families "rely to their detriment" on you "representation" that the teacher will be appropriate with young children....if that teacher should molest or otherwise harm the child.

On the other side of this issue, is the need for so many early childhood teachers to have a second or third income. Families trust their teachers, and teachers are comfortable with the families.

Let's talk about this. Then, I'll be glad to write in a statement for your consideration for your handbooks.
