So often teachers are given so many guidelines they have to follow that they lose sight of the here and now. I know as an administrator I have tried to let teachers not be so restricted but then find that many are not on task at all. Yes, this is a teacher problem but one many of us have to face and deal with in childcare. When children are interested the iron is hot for true learning. But that means as a teacher you have to be organized, and flexible. Public schools across the nation are setting such restrictive mandates on what the teacher is to do in the class, it seems the flexiblility of changing lessons in the middle is less and less supported. deb
