We have started the emergent curriculum this year. although I know we still have a way to go before we can say we are using it fully, the children are enjoying what the teachers have been doing so far. I have noticed that the the children are more focused on what is occuring in the classroom. Before they were often bored with the teacher choices for the classroom. The activities were based more on "this is what we did last year at this time" than what the current class of children were interested in. With a maxed out classroom and alot of very active boys and girls who have been together for the last 4 years, we need to incourage their interests so they want to be actively involved.
