I completely agree with you when you say that children (and adults) are all different and that needs to be taken into account when considering their learning environment.

I know that anything new.....changes, etc., can be very difficult. What, more specifically if possible, is it that worries you about standardized/public preschool? And, if you could...define what YOU mean by standardized. I know the term in general, but sometimes our individual perceptions can be so very different.

In Georgia, the Pre-K program has standards covering 7 different domains. To me the standards are not too narrow or restricting. They closely follow and are aware of child development and stages. There is not one prescribed curriculum. In fact, there is a great deal of freedom.

As you say though, one specific type of environment is not right for every child. :)
