Carmen, I agree that waiting until 4 does miss out on some very formative years. With all our research showing how important the first few years are, we will still be behind the ball so to speak. I think we need to look at other cultures and their successes with early education. I am always amazed to meet children that come to our school from another country, where early childhood was so essential and see where they are. Of course, continuing to educate those that pass these laws and plans is the only way to be heard. Four is a start, but we need to keep going. It amazes me as to how many parents, from Great Britain to France to India join our school and say "I don't want my child to end up behind because we moved to the US." I always thought we had such great education systems, and we do in the later years, but we need to continue to focus on the early years to better our system. Julie
