Many of the changes came aboutbBecause research indicates that on-going training is what impacts changes in practice. There is a huge body of evidence that says one-time workshops have very little impact on the way that caregivers work. NAFCC believes that part of the value of accreditation is that it helps providers improve the quality of care they offer.
Although college credit courses are one way to meet the new training requirements, there are a variety of ways for providers to do that. Resource and referral agencies and other training organizations around the country offer comprehensive training on a regular basis. Some is credit bearing and some is not.
