Welcome to the online discussion "Strategies for Promoting Children's Social and Emotional Development”. This discussion will focus on strategies for supporting young children's social emotional development and preventing and addressing challenging behavior. My work is based on a model that includes four levels of practice: building relationships with children, families and colleagues; designing environments to support children's social emotional development and prevent challenging behavior; strategies for teaching social skills and emotional competencies; and individualized interventions for children whose behaviors persist in spite of developmentally appropriate guidance procedures.

I look forward to your questions and will use them to guide our discussion throughout this week.
