I teach cross-categorical early childhood special education. For the first time in 16 years, I am having trouble with students telling other students that they are not friends. I have told them that they are hurting the other person's feelings and that they should not make such comments in my classroom. No matter what I say, the behavior has persisted. I am now going to talk to the parents to see if there is a problem that they know of. These 3 boys have been friends for 3 years, so I just don't understand what is going on. I should add that there have been a lot of behavior problems in the class this year and that there are 9 students.
