Hi Mary Louise,

I am the director of a Montessori school serving children ages 2 - 6. We work with a number of children with special needs but, we do believe that we have met our most challenging child to date. This is a 5 yr. old boy who has been with us for over a year now. Before us, he had been asked to leave 2 other centers. He usually screams and cries whenever he is redirected but also seems to put himself in situations where he has to be redirected. This screaming can and at times does go on for 45 minutes to an hour....daily. We have been keeping daily notes on his behavior, have talked to his parents, tried some preventive things but, nothing is working. At this time of the year, the staff is saying " hurry up August" because he will be leaving us then.

Please try to provide us with some new strategies that we can use to get us through the summer.

Judy
