Yes, could you so kindly share with me the top three early literacy practices?

I attended a conference at the Centre for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition in Minneapolis. In an interesting seminar, the following scenario was presented: A bilingual child was being school in an all French school in Canada and his parents only spoke English. He was having difficulty with reading and his parents were encouraged to increase their English reading to the child at home. The English reading at home helped the young boy improve his French reading skills at school. Could you shed a bit of light onto why this is so? I think it is fascinating.
