We have ben using the Incredible Years Curriculum in our Head Start classroom for the past two years throgh a grant funded by Safe Schools/ Healthy Students. We adapted the program to meet the needs of 3-5 year olds and this has been very successful in promoting social competencies. Our children label their feelings regularly thoughout the day and this has helped to develope a calmer, less agressive classroom. We combine this with monthly parent training to help parents continue the work with their children. Staff and parents are very pleased with the program. In conjunction with the Early/Head Start program, we administer the SE A&SQ twice a year. This toll has been very helpful in identifying social and emotional problems. I am very curious as to the new NRS componant!!
