Question regarding ADHD student

Mary, We are dealing with a problem child in our center. I have few ADHD kids in our after school program. One of the mothers never gives her son his recommended dose of medicine saying that she does not believe her son needs all that medicine. He is very disruptive and difficult to deal with. He has been removed from three different schools so far. We are told that he is getting his correct dose of medicine at his present school as the school insists on it. If we request her to bring a note from her son’s physician regarding the dose of medicine she refuses to bring it from the doctor’s office saying that his medical information is confidential and she doesn’t want anybody to see it. We cannot insist on getting the requisite information from her due to HIPAA law, which prohibits us from getting his confidential medical information. My staff is not very happy nowadays since he will be in the center everyday because of summer vacation. We are trying to help this child in this difficult situation. This is taking a heavy toll on our patience. We hope our patience does not run out. We all are looking for your expert advice in this difficult situation. Thanks in advance for your guidance. Nan Pangarkar
